Queensland Bottle Trees (Brachychiton
rupestris)
|
This wonderful tree is native to central Queensland and Northern New
South Wales.
Hardy and drought-tolerant, it grows well in a wide variety of soil
types and climates and is becoming increasingly popular in Southern
states. The trunk obtains its characteristic bottle-shape when the
tree is about 5 to 10 years of age. In the wild the tree can reach a
height of 18m, and the trunk a diameter of 2m, but will likely only
grow to half this size in Victoria. It can also be kept small by
containerisation.
Roraima Nursery has a large number of bottle trees in stock, starting
with young specimens 20cm in height (now available for sale online), ranging up to mature trees 5m
high. Delivery can be arranged for interstate orders. Please contact
