Native to the slopes of the Andes, Tephrocactus are generally frost tolerant.  They like a lot of light and a well-draining soil.  Drought tolerant, they don't require much watering even in Summertime.  It is best to let them dry out completely, then give them a good drenching, and then let them dry out again.
