These fascinating plants, commonly known as "Window plants", are native to southern Africa. They have very pretty, daisy-like flowers, usually in late Summer or Autumn. In habitat they grow below ground as a protection from the fierce desert sun, with only the transparent window-like ends of the leaves showing above the sand to gather light. At home, though, they should be planted raised in the soil to help prevent root-rot should they be overwatered. Grow them in a full sun, frost-free position.
